Principal's Message
Jefferson Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to share my excitement about serving as the Principal at Jefferson Elementary School. It is certainly a great honor and an extremely important responsibility ensuring an emotionally friendly and safe educational environment for our community’s children to grow.
Prior to becoming a school administrator in the Massena District, I taught for 11 years. I have been an administrator for the past 13 years, first at the high school and then at Jefferson. I pursued my passion for educating children at the State University of New York at Potsdam, State University of New York at Oswego, and St. Lawrence University.
I am a Massena native, graduating from Massena High School in 1986.
As a Massena Central School Administrator, I am committed to our mission statement to: “Educate, inspire and empower all students to fulfill their potential as learners and citizens.” I sincerely believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and the Jefferson Elementary teachers and staff are dedicated to making a difference in their lives.
It is my goal to lead the way to continued school improvement and higher student achievement while being mindful of the infinite possibilities of our children.
I believe that having a positive relationship with all students, faculty, staff, parents and the community members is an important part of the educational success of our school. My door is always open as I look forward to working with and serving the Jefferson Elementary Community. I look forward to working together with each of you. Please feel free to call or stop by for a visit. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at (315)764-3730.
Educationally yours,
Duane Richards
Principal
